Bhubaneswar, July 3 -- Odisha Police have destroyed more than 64.8 metric tonnes (64,816.17 kg) of seized ganja as part of the ongoing statewide narcotics disposal drive under the Nishamukta Abhiyan, marking a major milestone in the state's intensified campaign against drug trafficking.
The disposal exercise is being carried out under the supervision of the State Task Force (STF) of the CID Crime Branch as part of the National Level Pre-Trial Drug Destruction Special Drive.
According to Odisha Police Headquarters, 78,600.68 kg of seized ganja was identified for destruction during the special drive launched on June 26. Of this, 64,816.17 kg had been destroyed by July 2, while the remaining 13,784.22 kg will be disposed of by July 10.
