Bhubaneswar, June 2 -- In the latest crackdown on interstate narcotics trafficking, police in Odisha's Gajapati district seized around two quintals of ganja valued at nearly Rs 20 lakh and arrested three alleged drug smugglers from the Raipanka area along National Highway-326.
The seizure was made during a patrolling and vehicle-checking operation carried out as part of the police's ongoing "Zero Tolerance to Drugs" campaign. The accused were intercepted while transporting the contraband in a car, which was subsequently seized.
Police said preliminary investigations revealed that the ganja had been procured from local sources in the district and was being transported to Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand for illegal distribution and sale. The ...
