Bhubaneswar, March 12 -- The Odisha Police have arrested 365 accused persons and verified 37,094 mule (benami) bank accounts during 'Operation Cyber Kavach,' a statewide drive aimed at dismantling cybercrime networks and their financial infrastructure. Launched under the direction of Director General of Police Y. B. Khurania, the operation is being carried out by District Cyber Crime Units under the direct supervision of district SPs and DCPs, while the CID Crime Branch is coordinating the effort across the state.
Police sources said the main objective of the operation is to break the financial backbone of cybercriminals by identifying and verifying mule or benami bank accounts used in fraudulent online transactions.
