Kendrapada, Sept. 23 -- A special POCSO court in Kendrapada on Wednesday sentenced a 58-year-old man to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment in a gang-rape of a minor girl and causing her to become six months pregnant.
Additional District and Sessions Judge-cum-Special Judge under the POCSO Act, Prangya Parmita Raul, also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the convict. In default of payment, he will undergo an additional one year of rigorous imprisonment.
Special Public Prosecutor Nehru Kumar Sahoo said the court also directed the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) to provide Rs 10 lakh compensation to the victim, taking into consideration the mental trauma suffered by her.
