Bhubaneswar, June 24 -- The Odisha government on Wednesday directed all district collectors to conduct immediate fire safety audits across educational institutions and coaching centres under their jurisdiction, ensure strict compliance with safety norms, and submit Action Taken Reports (ATRs) within 15 days.

The move comes in the wake of the recent tragic fire incident in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, highlighting the urgent need for uncompromising adherence to fire safety standards.

The Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) has ordered a comprehensive review and audit of fire safety preparedness in educational institutions, coaching centres, and skill development hubs across the state.
