Bhubaneswar, June 2 -- The Odisha government on Tuesday issued a formal memorandum implementing enhanced reservation for students belonging to Scheduled Tribes (ST), Scheduled Castes (SC) and Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) in technical and professional education courses, with the revised policy set to take effect from the 2026-27 academic session.
The memorandum was issued by the Department of ST & SC Development, Minorities and Backward Classes Welfare, giving shape to a decision approved by the State Cabinet on April 4, 2026.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi had earlier announced the Cabinet decision and directed the department to ensure its early implementation.
