Bhubaneswar, June 29 -- In an initiative to ensure timely availability of fertilisers to farmers and curb black marketing, the Odisha government has approved a Rs 42-crore interest subsidy scheme to strengthen fertiliser distribution through cooperative societies across the state.

The five-year programme, to be implemented from the current financial year, will benefit around 2,700 grassroots cooperative societies, including Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and Large Area Multi-Purpose Cooperative Societies (LAMPCS), with an initial allocation of Rs 5 crore.
