Bhubaneswar, Aug. 28 -- The Odisha Food Safety Department has launched an extensive inspection and surveillance drive across the State ahead of the festive season to ensure the quality and safety of food products, resulting in the destruction of 3,605 kg of substandard food items so far.
The inspections are being carried out at food business establishments across various districts, subdivisions and municipal areas under the supervision of Food Safety Commissioner Dr Poma Tudu.
During the drive, adulterated and substandard food products are being seized and destroyed, while action is being initiated against establishments found violating food safety norms.
