Bhubaneswar, May 27 -- The Odisha government on Wednesday held a high-level meeting on the proposed expansion of NH-316 connecting Bhubaneswar and Puri.

Chaired by Works Department Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh, the meeting reviewed plans to widen the 67-km highway from four to six lanes with separate service roads on both sides.

An 11-km high-speed elevated corridor from Saptasati Chhak to Lingipur Chhak was also proposed to ease traffic congestion and reduce travel time between the two cities.

The project will include wayside amenities for commuters and tourists, besides a dedicated utility corridor for power, telecom, water, and gas services, considering the cyclone-prone nature of the region.
