Bhubaneswar, July 27 -- Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday announced that the Government Medical College and Hospital at Phulbani will be named after spiritual leader Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati in recognition of his lifelong service and sacrifices for the welfare of tribal communities in Kandhamal district.

Majhi also sanctioned Rs.13 crore from the Chief Minister's Special Assistance (CMSA) Fund for the development of Swamiji's Jalespata Ashram, the Ashram School and the Kanyashram (Girls' Ashram), with the objective of preserving the institution's historical, cultural and educational legacy.
