Bhubaneswar, March 11 -- The Odisha government has appointed three contact officers to coordinate rescue and safety measures for Odias stranded in the Middle East amid the ongoing conflict in the region.

The decision was taken at a review meeting held here on Wednesday, chaired by Chief Secretary Anu Garg, to assess the safety of Non-Resident Odias (NROs) in the Middle East.

Dr. Bijay Ketan Upadhyay, Director of the Odia Parivar Directorate and Secretary of the Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department; Sucharita Sadangi, Additional Resident Commissioner in New Delhi; and Pritish Panda, Nodal Officer, have been appointed as contact officers to coordinate rescue and assistance efforts.
