Bhubaneswar, June 17 -- Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati on Wednesday stressed the need for large-scale adoption of solar-powered irrigation pumps, stating that the initiative would help reduce irrigation expenses for farmers, boost their income and support the state's renewable energy targets.

The Governor made the observation during a comprehensive review meeting with senior officials of the Water Resources Department held at New Abhishek Hall in Lok Bhavan.

Encouraging officials to actively promote solar-powered irrigation systems among farmers, Kambhampati said surplus electricity generated through these systems could be fed into the power grid, creating an additional source of revenue for farmers while advancing sustainable agri...
