Bhubaneswar, March 30 -- Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati on Monday highlighted the urgent need for a comprehensive and coordinated approach to address the rising burden of cancer in the State.
Speaking at the "Cancer-Free Odisha" Awareness Conclave and "Mahanayak-2026" Award Ceremony, organised by the Asim Odisha Foundation Trust, the Governor said cancer has evolved beyond a medical issue to become a significant societal challenge impacting families and communities across Odisha.
He noted that, like many parts of India, Odisha is witnessing a steady increase in cancer cases due to lifestyle changes, tobacco consumption, environmental factors, lack of awareness, and delayed diagnosis.
