Bhubaneswar, June 24 -- The Opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Wednesday alleged that the case of a farmer from Odisha's Bargarh district seeking euthanasia has exposed what it termed the anti-farmer policies and administrative failure of the BJP government in the state.

Reacting to the incident, BJD spokesperson and media coordinator Lenin Mohanty said the entire state has been shocked by reports that farmer Gopal Krishna Sahu of Bargarh district,known as Odisha's rice bowl,was compelled to seek euthanasia after allegedly failing to sell his paddy despite repeated efforts.
