Bhubaneswar, Aug. 7 -- Odisha is stepping up its weather forecasting and disaster preparedness with an expanded network of Doppler Weather Radars, modernised early warning systems and advanced communication infrastructure.

Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari said the Doppler Weather Radar at Sambalpur has already become operational, while the proposed radars at Balasore and Bhubaneswar would be commissioned shortly. Repair and upgradation of the existing radars at Gopalpur and Paradip are also in progress. In addition, a new Doppler Weather Radar will be established at Puri.
