Bhubaneswar, Sept. 5 -- The Odisha government has decided to adopt a 'One District-Multiple Tourism Initiatives' approach, under which every district will immediately identify and develop five to ten small tourism destinations to boost the local economy and create employment opportunities.

Addressing a virtual orientation programme for members of the Local Tourism Promotion Councils (LTPCs) on Saturday, Chief Secretary Anu Garg said the initiative would give a major push to rural tourism while benefiting women, local youth and the MSME sector.

She also proposed introducing a 'Tourism Ranking' system among districts to encourage healthy competition and generate greater enthusiasm for tourism development.
