Bhubaneswar, Aug. 13 -- A Fast Track Special Court (FTSC) in Angul on Thursday sentenced a 23-year-old man to 25 years rigorous imprisonment for raping a seven-year-old girl in May last year.
The court convicted Satyabrata Mishra for the sexual assault committed on May 20, 2025 after finding him of guilty of offence.
Special Judge awarded Mishra rigorous imprisonment for 25 years under Section 65(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 20 years RI under Section 64(2)(m) BNS, and life imprisonment under Section 3(2)(v) of the SC & ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
All substantive sentences will run concurrently. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 80,000.
