Bhubaneswar, June 29 -- The Odisha Congress on Monday questioned the accountability of School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond over the controversy surrounding large-scale errors in school textbooks and urged Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to ask the minister to resign.
Reacting to the minister's remarks on the issue, the Congress alleged that his comments reflected irresponsibility and said accountability must extend beyond lower-level officials.
Addressing a press conference at the party office here, senior Congress spokesperson Rajani Mohanty claimed that the number of errors detected in school textbooks printed by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) had reportedly crossed 2,000.
