Bhubaneswar, Oct. 27 -- Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Bhakta Charan Das has demanded that Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi relinquish charge of the Home Department, citing concerns reportedly raised by the National Crime Investigation Bureau (NCIB) over allegations of police torture, illegal detention and custodial misconduct in the state.
Das also criticised the BJP-led government over the law-and-order situation and alleged that its assurances on police reforms had not translated into effective action.
