Bhubaneswar, June 12 -- The Odisha Congress on Friday accused the state government of failing to ensure the safety and welfare of citizens and alleged that the administration has allowed serious human rights concerns to emerge during its tenure.

Addressing a press conference here, senior Congress leader and former Finance Minister Panchanan Kanungo said ensuring public safety and welfare remains the foremost responsibility of any government.

He alleged that instead of addressing inflation and controlling rising prices, the government has failed to ease the burden on common people.
