Bhubaneswar, May 13 -- Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has reduced the number of vehicles in his personal security convoy by half in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal for nationwide austerity measures amid the global oil crisis triggered by the situation in West Asia.
Welcoming the Prime Minister's call for fuel conservation and cost-cutting, Majhi said the state must contribute to national efforts by promoting responsible energy use and minimizing avoidable expenditure.
The Chief Minister also urged people across Odisha to reduce dependence on private vehicles and make greater use of public transport to help conserve fuel.
