Bhubaneswar, July 13 -- Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday approved bonuses, incentives and higher procurement prices for the welfare of lakhs of Kendu leaf pluckers, binders and seasonal workers across the state.
The Chief Minister also approved an increase in the prices paid for Kendu leaves measured in keri and phal.
As per the Chief Minister's directive, the price of Kendu leaves in processed areas has been increased by 10 paise per keri (20 leaves), while the rate per phal (40 leaves) has been raised by 20 paise.
Official sources said the State Government will incur an expenditure of Rs 10.78 crore on account of the price hike.
