Bhubaneswar, Aug. 18 -- Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday announced a Rs 1,000-crore special assistance package for people affected by the recent floods in the State, a day after visiting flood-hit areas of Jajpur and Bhadrak districts to assess the situation.
Majhi said the package had been announced on the basis of the preliminary assessment of damage and that the assistance could be enhanced after the final assessment.
The Chief Minister made the announcement after chairing a high-level meeting to review the flood situation and relief operations. He said the government was fully committed to restoring normalcy in the affected areas and assured that a lack of funds would not come in the way of relief and rehabilitation...
