Bhubaneswar, Aug. 1 -- In a major policy initiative to reshape Odisha's urban and industrial landscape, the state Cabinet on Saturday approved a proposal to amend the Odisha Development Authorities Act, 1982, paving the way for the establishment of Economic Region Development Authorities (ERDAs) to oversee the planned development of large city-based economic regions.
The amendment, proposed by the Housing and Urban Development Department, seeks to create a comprehensive statutory framework for the constitution, powers and functioning of ERDAs, enabling coordinated planning and governance of multi-district economic corridors across the state.
