Bhubaneswar, May 20 -- The Odisha Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, on Wednesday approved a proposal to establish a separate Directorate of Archaeology for the protection, preservation and management of the state's rich archaeological heritage.

The new directorate will facilitate the restructuring of the Odisha Archaeological Curator Service and the formulation of cadre rules for improved administration and conservation of archaeological assets, including ancient temples and monuments discovered across the state.
