Bhubaneswar, May 20 -- Heat wave conditions are expected to persist across the interior districts of Odisha, with several places likely to record temperatures of 45 degrees Celsius or above over the next ten days, the Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC) of SOA Deemed to be University said on Wednesday.

According to CEC Director Dr. Sarat Chandra Sahu, the unusually high temperatures are being driven by the northward movement of the sun combined with clear sky conditions and are expected to continue till May 30.

He said the situation has been further intensified by dry and hot northwesterly winds blowing from north India towards the Bay of Bengal, pushing temperatures up by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius.
