Bhubaneswar, July 30 -- The BJP on Thursday urged the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Odisha to extend the deadline for filing claims and objections under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, citing widespread disruption caused by floods across the state.

In a memorandum submitted to the CEO, a BJP delegation said incessant monsoon rains had triggered floods in several districts, leading to waterlogging, inundation of villages and urban areas, uprooting of trees, damage to roads and disruption of transport, severely affecting normal life.
