Bhubaneswar, April 20 -- As many as 13 tractors were seized in Odisha's Ganjam district as a part of the intensified action against illegal sand mining on Monday.
The seizure was undertaken during a coordinated raid in Ganjam district. Acting on a tip-off, mining officials, in coordination with local police and the Purushottampur Tahasildar, carried out a raid near Mahachhai village under Kabisuryanagar police limits.
The operation targeted illegal extraction and transportation activities along the Rushikulya riverbed.
On spotting the enforcement team, those involved in the illegal mining activities fled the scene, abandoning their vehicles. Officials subsequently seized 13 tractors found at the site.
