Kendrapada, Oct. 9 -- Tension gripped Pattamundai block in Odisha's Kendrapada district on Friday after BJD-supported elected representatives locked the block office's main gate and launched an indefinite hunger strike, alleging arbitrary functioning by the Block Development Officer (BDO).
The situation escalated when BJP-supported representatives broke open the lock to enter the premises, triggering a face-off between supporters of the two parties.
The protest disrupted normal functioning of the block office, preventing employees from entering the premises. The agitation coincided with the administration's scheduled 'Seva Sankalpa Diwas' programme and a camp for persons with disabilities at the Women's College campus.
