Bhubaneswar, July 10 -- A 50-year-old man, who had been absconding for nearly 28 years in connection with a murder case in Odisha's Jharsuguda district, was arrested by a special police team from neighbouring Chhattisgarh, police said on Friday.
The accused, Nilamani Mahanand of Bhundupalli village under Rengali police station limits, was wanted for the murder of fellow villager Duryadhan Deep on October 6, 1998.
Police alleged that Mahanand and two associates killed Deep, stuffed the body into a gunny sack, and dumped it in the Kelo River in an attempt to conceal the crime.
