Kendrapada, Aug. 13 -- The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has directed the Superintendent of Police, Jagatsinghpur, and the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) to submit a report on whether compensation has been paid to a minor rape survivor under the Victim Compensation Scheme.
The Commission has asked the authorities to specify the amount sanctioned, the amount disbursed and the date of payment, if compensation has been paid. The compliance report is to be submitted within four weeks, according to an order issued by the Commission on Thursday.
The NHRC passed the order while hearing a petition filed by Human Rights Defender Sagar Jena.
