Bhubaneswar, Aug. 11 -- A cyber fraud trail detected through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP) has led to the conviction of a 32-year-old man in Sambalpur, for operating a mule bank account. A Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) court has sentenced Gouri Shankar Dash to two years' rigorous imprisonment.
Dash was convicted after investigators traced his Kotak Mahindra Bank account through the NCRP and found that Rs 33,550 in suspected cyber fraud proceeds had been deposited into it at different times.
The court sentenced him to two years' rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 under each of the two sections.
According to police, Rs 9,000, Rs 11,500, Rs 9,000 and Rs 4,050 were deposited into Dash's account ...
