Bhubaneswar, July 30 -- A special court hers today convicted an interstate cannabis smuggler under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and sentenced him to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for transporting over one tonne of cannabis concealed in a modified truck.
The judgment was delivered by the Court of the 1st Additional Sessions Judge-cum-Special Judge, Bhubaneswar, in a case investigated by the Special Task Force (STF) of the Odisha Crime Branch.
The convict, Rajesh Singh, was found guilty of possessing and transporting 1,010 kg of commercial quantity ganja. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh, with an additional six months' rigorous imprisonment in default of payment.
