Bhubaneswar, June 2 -- Odisha Vigilance has secured the conviction of a former Additional Tahasildar of Deogaon Tahasil in Bolangir district in a corruption case involving the acceptance of a bribe.

Vigilance sources said on Tuesday that Rajendra Choudhury, former Additional Tahasildar of Deogaon Tahasil, was convicted by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bolangir, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.20,000 from a complainant for issuing a transit pass in Y-Form.

Choudhury had been charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.

The court sentenced him to three years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs.10,000.
