Bhubaneswar, Aug. 26 -- Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday arrested Dr Basanta Kumar Naik, former in-charge Principal and present Lecturer in Political Science at Dutika Sahu College, Laida, in Sambalpur district, for allegedly diverting funds sanctioned for various infrastructure development works without executing the corresponding works on the ground.
Naik was arrested in connection with the alleged misappropriation of public funds amounting to Rs 73.44 lakh during his tenure as in-charge Principal from 2019-20 to 2024-25.
He was later remanded to judicial custody after Court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, Sambalpur rejected his bail application.
