Bhubaneswar, June 16 -- A notorious criminal, identified as Prabhat Malik, sustained bullet injuries to his right leg during a police encounter inside the Mahuldiha forest area of Odisha's Keonjhar district in the early hours of Tuesday.
According to police, Malik was initially admitted to the Keonjhar District Headquarters Hospital and was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for further treatment.
Police recovered a firearm and Rs 12,000 in cash from his possession.
Officials said Malik has around 40 criminal cases registered against him at various police stations across Keonjhar district.
