Bhubaneswar, April 22 -- Brahmapur Railway Station, the busiest rail hub of southern Odisha handling over 162 trains and 25,000 passengers every day, is set to undergo its most ambitious overhaul since its founding, with East Coast Railway (ECoR) sanctioning a Rs 300 crore multi-phase redevelopment that will fundamentally reshape how one of Odisha's most important cities connects with the rest of India, said ECoR officials on Tuesday.

At the heart of the redevelopment is a fundamental capacity expansion. Under the 3rd and 4th Line project the station will gain three additional railway lines and four new platforms, dramatically increasing its ability to handle the growing number of originating, terminating and passing trains.
