Bhubaneswar, April 13 -- Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president and party supremo Naveen Patnaik has appointed party MP Manas Ranjan Mangaraj as the Leader of the BJD Parliamentary Party in the Rajya Sabha.
Sulata Deo has been appointed as the Deputy Leader and Chief Whip of the party in the Upper House.
In a letter addressed to the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, Patnaik said the appointments were made following the recently concluded biennial elections to the Rajya Sabha and the retirement of some party members from the House.
He further noted that these changes were necessitated after the previous Rajya Sabha parliamentary leader of the party resigned from the post and formally informed the party president.
