Thrissur, March 9 -- Services of various private hospitals were affected with the indefinite strike called by the United Nurses Association, which began on Monday.
The strike comes after UNA officially rejected the State Labour Department's recent draft notification, which proposed a minimum wage hike ranging from Rs 25,450-30,800.
The association remains "non-negotiable" on its demand for a Rs 40,000 basic salary, a figure they argue is essential given a sharp rise in the cost of living and the "pathetic" condition of professionals in the private sector.
