Dimapur, March 14 -- The Naga Students Federation (NSF) has announced a public rally in Kohima on March 16 to protest against the alleged compulsory observance of Vande Mataram in official functions and educational institutions.
In a statement, the federation expressed concern over a notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on January 28 regarding the observance and singing of the national song during official programmes and in educational institutions.
The NSF said the rally aims to express the concerns of the Naga people and emphasise that the will and conscience of the people should be respected in administrative decisions affecting them.
