New Delhi, June 12 -- : The National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS) is set to get its first serving three-star officer as Military Advisor, with Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai expected to take over the position, according to reports.
The move marks a departure from the recent practice of appointing retired senior military officers to the role. Since the revival of the NSCS military wing in 2018, all Military Advisors have assumed office only after retirement from active service. Lt Gen Ghai is also poised to become the first officer below the Army Commander rank, or its equivalent in the other services, to be selected for the post.
