Chennai, June 28 -- A notorious rowdy who allegedly attacked a cop while trying to evade arrest after he was found possessing ganja, was shot at and arrested by the police on Sunday.
Police sources said the incident ocurred near the Vandalur forest area in the early hours of today after a special team from suburban Tambaram police commissionerate, acting on a tip off that historysheeters were indulging in ganja smuggling in the Mannivakkam-Karisankal forest area.
After intensive surveillance in the locality since last night, the police team rounded up rowdies Selvam alias Selvakumar and Kanagaraj, who were hiding in the forest with about 20 kg of ganja and surrounded them at gun point.
