Vibha SharmaNew Delhi, Sept. 17 -- Although Parliament's Monsoon Session was adjourned sine die on August 13, more than a month later it has not been formally prorogued-an "unusual" procedural delay that has sparked political debate and speculation about a "special session" to clear legislative business politically important for the Narendra Modi government.

The buzz in political corridors is that the government is mulling a three-day special session of Parliament later this month to pass bills related to delimitation and women's reservation-the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill and the Delimitation Bill, 2026, which provides the framework for redrawing parliamentary constituencies.
