Srinagar, June 18 -- Two weeks ahead of the annual Amarnath Yatra, Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma on Thursday visited Pahalgam and Chandanwari to review the security situation and assess operational preparedness along the southern pilgrimage route.
The visit comes as security agencies intensify preparations for the annual pilgrimage, which attracts thousands of devotees from across the country. The Yatra will commence on July 3 and span 57 days, concluding on August 28.
In a post on X, Northern Command said Lt Gen Sharma reviewed the security situation and assess operational preparedness along the southern route.
