Seoul, Sept. 12 -- North Korea fired several short-range ballistic missiles towards the Sea of Japan (East Sea) on Saturday, South Korea's military said, a day after the United States, South Korea and Japan concluded a four-day trilateral military exercise that Pyongyang had condemned as a provocation.
South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said that North Korea fired the missiles from an area near Wonsan on its east coast, with the ROK military detecting the launch at 5:20 a.m. KST.
The projectiles flew about 250 km (155 miles) before landing in the sea, the JCS said, adding that South Korean and US authorities were analysing further details of the launches.
