Panchkula, June 29 -- Large parts of North India remained in the grip of an intense heatwave on Monday, with Haryana, Punjab and Delhi witnessing another day of blistering temperatures and unusually warm nights that offered little respite from the oppressive weather.

According to observations recorded at 0830 IST on June 29 by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), both maximum and minimum temperatures continued to remain well above normal across the region, while rainfall activity remained sparse in most places.

The IMD observations showed that Haryana recorded an average maximum temperature of 42.1 degrees Celsius, which was 4.34 degrees above normal, indicating that the heatwave continues to maintain its intensity across the state....
