Ranchi, Feb. 21 -- The issues of increasing the retirement age of government employees and filling backlog vacancies were prominently raised in the Assembly, with the state government clarifying its stand on both matters.

The government stated that there is currently no proposal under consideration to enhance the retirement age, while the process of filling backlog vacancies is being carried out on a priority basis.

Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) MLA Janardan Paswan raised the demand to increase the retirement age of employees.

He pointed out that the existing retirement age of government employees and officials in the state is 60 years, whereas in central services the retirement age for doctors and teachers is 65 years.
