Hyderabad, May 5 -- Former Director General of Police and AIBSP national coordinator J Purna Chandra Rao has said that the Kummari community in Telangana continues to lack political representation, with not a single MLA elected from the community.

Speaking at the Telangana Kummari Sarpanches' Conference held at Ravindra Bharathi, here on Tuesday, he termed the situation a "serious injustice" and said it reflects deeper structural imbalances in the political system.

Rao noted that although the community constitutes around 1.2 per cent of the population, it failed to secure any MLA seat in the 2023 Assembly elections.
