Agartala, April 9 -- Around 20 per cent of the electorate turned out to cast their votes within the first three hours of polling in the Dharmanagar by-elections in North Tripura on Thursday. Despite the drizzling and gusty winds, voting unfolded in a festive atmosphere and remained peaceful.

With a total voter count of 46,142, the by-election will determine the political fate of six candidates, with women voters playing a pivotal role as they outnumber men -- 23,758 women compared to 22,348 male voters. Polling began at 7 AM and will conclude at 4 PM.
