Edinburgh, July 15 -- The era of one-sided contests at ICC's marquee men's tournaments could be set for a change as cricket's global governing body has introduced new formats for the 2027 ODI World Cup and the 2028 T20 World Cup, making the road to the title tougher and more competitive.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revamped the structures of both events with a focus on creating more high-stakes matches, increasing opportunities for emerging teams and ensuring that teams face stronger challenges throughout the tournament.

Approved at the ICC Annual General Meeting in Edinburgh, the changes will bring in a new three-stage format for the 2027 ODI World Cup and a redesigned Super 10 phase for the 2028 T20 World Cup.
